In long term projects like OpenSEA, it becomes easy to lose track of the end target, because it is so far off. Following the success of recently adding hydroydnamic forces to oFreq, I wanted to re-iterate what OpenSEA means.
Absolutely. No. Limitations.
It is time to take advantage of the last 50 years in computer development. Change our philosophy. That is the vision of OpenSEA. No more limitations from theories that assume limited computing power. They were great in their day, but no longer appropriate to the current situation.
OpenSEA will allow you to turn on all the complexity you want. Want a non-linear free surface condition? No problem. Want 2nd order wave drift forces? Of course. It should all be in that bag. That is the promise of what will come. A modern program, complete with GUI and modern theories. And because it is open source, it remains easily adaptable and expandable. A program where your computer is the only limitation.
